Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design

Our LEED certified building has an innovative and unique design. The centre was built into the embankment of Cecelia Ravine Park, which allows the building to naturally use the earth's constant temperature for heating and cooling.

The centre features the first accessible green roof in BC, which provides a pleasant environment for visitors and clients. High ceilings and large windows offer natural light, with excellent views of Cecelia Ravine.

Interpretive signs highlighting the building's LEED components are displayed inside and outside of the centre. Check back soon for our LEED brochure!

Testimonials

“We worked with the staff at Burnside Gorge to hold workshops in November [2009]. Coordinating our event from the Lower Mainland adds extra challenges, but the staff was extremely helpful and there were no logistical challenges at all. In the end our workshops were smaller than anticipated, and they were able to move things around and get us into a space that was perfect for our size. The venue was great and everyone couldn’t stop talking about the food!”

Justin Ho,
United Community Services Co-op

"Booking our events at the Burnside Gorge Community Centre has made our event planning so much easier. We've booked our meetings for the whole year and they set up the room to our requirements, giving us one less thing to think about! The natural daylighting, the the room and the location on the Galloping Goose are perfect for our needs, and we take pride knowing that this is a LEED project."

The Emerging Green Builders

"Our experience at the Burnside Gorge Community Centre went above and beyond our expectations! The staff was friendly and very accomodating to our needs. We are glad we held our rehearsal dinner in the Activity Room because it was the perfect set up! The naturally-lit bright room and nice open space was definitely a bonus for our large crowd. We would not hesitate to recommend this facility to future patrons. Thank you for making our experience an enjoyable and successful one!"
