Community Business Profile: Island Batteries

Q & A with Peter Bird, Island Batteries

How long have you been operating in the Burnside Gorge neighbourhood?

I started Island Batteries in Oct 1999 after working 14 years for various other battery companies in Victoria and Vancouver as well as Edmonton. I moved into our current building 9 years ago.  I was a strictly mobile, one man battery business before that.

What goods/services do you provide?

With over 28 years experience in the battery industry, we are your one-stop specialists for all your battery needs. Island Batteries has been Victoria's locally owned battery source since 1999. For your large or small battery operated devices & machines you're at the right place.
We stock batteries and battery chargers for all types of watercraft, boats & jet-skis for commercial applications, for trucks & cars, for RVs & golf carts or mobility scooters. We have the service & knowledge you can depend on to help you when you need it.

An average home can have fifty battery operated devices. Personal Digital Assistants, cell phones, cameras, remote controls, flash-lights & smoke detectors -- these are just a few examples of what powers our day-to-day lives. For back-up batteries for your clocks to back-up systems for your entire home, Island Batteries is your source for the latest technology to help keep you "in power."

We can also test your battery and charging system for free to let you know what shape your battery or alternator is in. We also offer free battery recycling for all types of batteries. We are a member of call2recycle and are a registered battery recycling depot.

What are your hours of operation?

Our business hours are Mon-Fri 8:30am-5:00pm and Saturdays 10am-3pm.
